Have you seen Guillermo Del Toro's Pinocchio yet? Threadwood's co-founder Scott had the opportunity to animate a few shots in the film! All 3 of them involve picking something up off the ground for some reason.
Pinocchio is now available on Netflix, check it out if you're into great movies and incredible stop-motion artistry! The most recent episode of Magical Cat got over 1 million views on twitter! This led to a beautiful writeup on FirstShowing.net in an article titled Watch: These Adorable 'Magical Cat' Vignettes Are Delightful. It seems Magical Cat might finally be getting the attention he so desperately wants!
Cool! Our fuzzy buddy Magical Cat will be shown to viewers all around the world at the Cardiff Animation Festival, the Providence Children's Film Festival, and will be used as interstitials during the SXSW festival!
The advertisements we recently worked on for Cricket Wireless/WWE are featured in an article on AdWeek! We created three separate stop-motion sequences for the ad campaign.
Dragonframe is the industry standard stop-motion animation software. Every stop-motion studio uses it, including us! We love using Dragonframe for our projects because it makes animating, motion control, and lighting control easy to understand and simple to program. They were kind enough to do an interview with us about our claymation series, Magical Cat!
We recently completed a library of clay-animated visual effects for an indie game called Reclamation by Hat Hair Games. It was our first adventure into animation for gaming, and we loved it! Take a look!
Our Magical Cat series picked up some steam since we released episode 3. Thank you to catsuka.com, a popular website featuring cool animations and illustrations, for sharing our series on the website! We've really been overwhelmed by the all love we've been getting from people all over the world!
Recently we were interviewed for the Thought Provokers series at Voyage LA. Their interview approach is conversational and broad and tackles big picture thoughts on being a creative and the journey to get there. If you'd like to know more about how we met, developed our style together, and our general philosophies on making work and aiming for "success" - please click through.
They spotlight new creatives frequently and use word of mouth recommendations to expand their interviewing pool of entries - it keeps their creatives diverse and forever branching out. We were generously recommended by our good friends Max Lopez, Cami Kwan and Sean Maloney at Apartment D (click for their interview from a few weeks ago) and paid it forward to more talented multifaceted stop motion friends - fingers crossed to see their work highlighted soon! One of our answers was how engaging clay animation is too look at despite how long it takes. It's truly an investment to have something unique to catch and hold someone's attention. We're grateful it seems they felt the same by their use of our work on their splash pages (see below).
We finally animated something with a set and props! Here’s our January Loop de Loop entry, “Flumpy” (title courtesy of cousin Michael) The theme this month was “window”. Unfortunately, we were too jet lagged to attend the LA screening last night, but all the entries are really great and they’re posted on their website. We posted some juicy BTS stuff on our Instagram acct! ?SOUND ON!
